Group Trips

Bring your class, team, family reunion or other group to Riamede Farm, a peaceful old-world orchard located in Chester, NJ with over 54 traditional, modern, and heirloom apple varieties.

We place an emphasis on quality and take pride in providing personalized attention to each group.  Our trips blend high-quality content with a welcoming atmosphere and can easily be

tailored to your group’s age and interests.

Our educational tours will engage your students’ minds while addressing various New Jersey Student Learning Standards.  Our knowledgeable staff will guide students to:

live music in the barn

Make connections between farming and the food they eat,

Outline the process by which food is grown,

Discuss the operation of a working apple farm,

Teach about pollination and plant growth, and

Describe how climate impacts farms and our food supply.

Each tour is approximately 90 minutes long. All tours run in just about all weather conditions; please be prepared for the day’s surprises!

If you are coordinating a group larger than 50 on a weekend, please contact us. Otherwise, please purchase individual tickets on our normal ticketing page.

Apple Picking Outing (Pre-K+)

Available August 26 - November 15, 2024

Minimum 20 participants

  • Our world-famous cider donut

Fall Harvest Outing (Pre-K+)

Available September 20 - November 1, 2024

Minimum 20 participants.

  • Educational guided tour

  • One small pumpkin

  • 3 delicious apples you pick off a tree

  • A cup of locally-pressed apple cider

  • Our world-famous cider donut

Spring Planting Outing (Pre-K+)

Available April 1 - June 30, 2024

Minimum 20 participants

What's Included?

  • Visit our greenhouse and vegetable garden

  • Get your hands dirty planting seeds

  • Take home a plant, a vegetable seed packet and instructions

  • Learn about the life-cycle of a vegetable plant

  • Witness vermiculture in progress

  • Enjoy an apple cider donut & drink

$15 per person

Honey Bees & Pollinators
(1st grade+)

Available April 1 - November 1, 2024 

Minimum 20 participants

What's Included?

  • Learn about the parts of a flower

  • See a working hive in action

  • Discuss the various types of bees

  • Do the bee dance

  • Discuss the life cycle of a fruit plant

  • Identify the difference between a fruit and a vegetable

  • Take home a pollinator friendly seed packet with instructions

Climate Resiliency (4th grade +)

Available April 1 - November 8, 2024

Minimum 20 participants

What's Included?

  • Learn about how farms manage climate risk, from crop selection to water resource management.

  • Brainstorm possible effects of climate on farming

  • Visit our orchard and/or fields to learn about crop selection

  • Learn about pest control options

  • Enjoy an apple cider donut and juice or water

Booking Information

Trips are available Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 3 PM.

All attendees, including accompanying adults and teachers, must purchase a package.

The property is wheelchair accessible, but there is some uneven terrain. Please contact us directly for any special needs groups.

Partner Events

Intro to Falconry

May 31, 3-4:30 PM

Come learn about the ancient sport of falconry with Zach Bohn of Hawks & Hounds Falconry. He will cover history, sport, conservation and bird care, including a hands-on demonstration with several birds of prey.
